Dr. Manuel Guzman

Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Complutense University of Madrid.

He studied Biological Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid, from which he graduated in 1986 and received a doctorate in 1990. He did postdoctoral stays at the University of Utrecht (Holland), the Hannah Research Institute of Ayr (United Kingdom) and the University of California Irvine (USA). Since 2005 he is Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Complutense University of Madrid. His research, focused on the mechanism of action of cannabinoids, has resulted in some 160 publications in scientific journals. He is the co-author of 6 patents on possible applications of cannabinoids as possible antitumor and neuroprotective agents. He has supervised 21 doctoral theses.
